                                    Direct Support Professional Spotlight

   Rev. Emmett K. Shasha is the Senior Pastor of the Sound Doctrine Baptist Fellowship International Church located  in Columbus, Ohio.  He is married to his beautiful wife La-verne and they have 4 adult children.  Emmett is a 2004 graduate from the Temple Bible College in Columbus Ohio where he obtained a diploma in Particle Ministry.  In 2003 he graduated from the Moody Bible Institute located in Chicago, IL  He also obtained a Certification in Adult Bible Studies at the Distance Learning Center.

Emmett is an Ordain Minister of the Gospel of Christ.  He is also an author of the book: Voice of the Innocent (a plead for justice knowing that it could happened to you)

Emmett was born in 1961, in Liberia, West Africa.  He relocated to America in 2001 as a result of 14 years of civil war that destroyed Liberia. He has worked at the Shasta and Bogota home since December of 2001.

 

Emmett was asked – “What do you like most about your job?”

“It is the love that I have for what I do, that has kept me doing it for the past 16 years.  Working with people is my  calling; I’m a people’s person, being a minister, it was what I was meant to do. I love my job, and the people that I work with.”

 

Patience Dohnwana was born on July 17 1969 in the Republic of Cameroon West Africa. She is blessed with two beautiful girls Valerie Nyema 22 years old and Nina Hazel 16 years old. She graduated from Government Technical college in Cameroon and had to teach at several different high schools from 1997 till 2003 where her monthly salary was $100 till she moved to the United States in search of better opportunities. While in the United States of America, she obtained a State Tested Nursing Assistant Certification as well as Level One Sign Language Certificate. She has worked with people with physical and mental disabilities with different companies from 2004 to her present job working at the Residential Options homes as a Direct Support Associate. She is also now an official United States citizen! Patience would like to thank her beautiful mom Florence Nahyama who is 75 years old living with her and encouraging her to keep taking care of people with disabilities and may God bless all the individuals we serve at Shasta and Bogota.
